about

Coetus 343 is a multiple conduction work by Guglielmo Diana and Paolo Possidente.
The concept of the composition is based on a sort of Pythagorean Theorem based on a triangle of three conductors which drive a quartet playing musical cells based on triads.

Coetus 343 could be played with a minimum of 2 elements to a maximum of 15 elements.

Minimum size of 2
1 Conductor
1 Instrument

Maximum size of 15
3 conductors
3 Melodic instruments
3 Harmonic instruments
3 Bass instruments
3 Rhythmic instruments

The deal of the conduction took place on a table where three conductors debate for the sorts a six-hand composition.
Each Conductor drives a quartet using letters and a baton, musicians play a part of a musical cell called by their respective conductor. Cells belong to three macro categories: triads cells, melodies cells and special cells.
Conductors call the cells in a personal tempo which can be in agreement with other’s quartets ones or totally different in order to create a sort of polyrhythmic displacement.
The deal at the base is to follow simple cells that combined together can create a complex system.

This is the result of a residency which took place in march of 2019 at the RMC in Copenaghen.
