about

Il Gioco della Campana is inspired by Cortazar's Rayuela its structure is based on the non linear formal structure of the book.

As in Cortazar's novel, the composition is divided into three parts: the first two, Dall'altra parte (1-2) and Da questo parte (3), have a narrative contribution, while the third part, Da altre parti, is composed of micro movements including fragments of melodies from the pieces of the first two parts , extracts of bass lines, grooves, new melodies and short independent pieces which have the function, as in the novel, of abstracting from the dramaturgical line or integrating the narration or even bringing new thematic and harmonic elements to the attention of the listener.

In Cortazar's work, the reader can decide the order in which to read the chapters of the book, giving his own perspective to the author's writing, so in "Gioco Della Campana" the reader decides his interpretation by creating a new general structure using the musical chapters present in the composition. The work was written thinking of the ensemble of the Pietra Tonale Orchestra of Turin, the orchestra, which is also a collective, is composed of about twenty elements.

Il Gioco Della Campana was recorded on 27 and 28 September 2021 at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin, performed by Pietra Tonale Orchestra.
